Massage Therapy Week is held annually
AAMT is proud to launch the National Massage Therapy Week Workshop Series to take place in all states as part of Massage Therapy Week promotion.
The theme for 2011 is Arthritis and AAMT are working in close collaboration with Arthritis Australia, producing brochures for members, publishing articles about the benefits of massage for arthritis in journals, promoting the event on State and Federal websites and providing quality education about arthritis for our members.
An exciting one day workshop is being run in all states comprising of two separate presentations. The morning presentation will be run by an educator from Arthritis Australia who will present information on:
- What is Arthritis?
- Identifying the different forms
- How it affects people
- Contraindications and precautions
- Resources that may be available etc
- Q & A Session
The afternoon presentation will be run by an AAMT educator who will present information on:
- Rheumatoid Arthritis v Degenerative Arthritis
- Symptom pictures for each
- Acute and chronic episodes and how to manage them in a therapeutic sense
- Conditions such as Psoriatic Arthritis, Juvenile Arthritis and when arthritis is not really arthritis
- Specific massage protocols, techniques, the do's and don'ts
AAMT has produced promotional brochures promoting the benefits of massage for people experiencing arthritis which will be available to purchase, and also negotiated for all participants to receive free information brochures and other resources from Arthritis Australia.
Morning and afternoon tea and lunch will be available. Members to bring their own massage table, note pad and pen.
